Type.ai

What Is Type.ai?

Type.ai (often referred to simply as Type) is a modern, AI-native document editor designed for professional writers and content marketers. Unlike "bolted-on" AI tools, Type was built from the ground up as a fast, block-based editor where the AI is an integrated part of the interface.

It allows you to toggle between different "brains" as you create your essay, book, or document. These include GPT and Claude Sonnet, giving you the flexibility to choose the right intelligence for different parts of your project.

Type focuses on removing the "blank page syndrome" by offering frictionless writing features. You can even generate speech using a human-quality voice that can narrate your document.

Type.ai Features

• Type Chat: An always-on sidebar assistant that provides real-time feedback, research, and rewrites without requiring you to switch tabs.
• Knowledge Vault: A secure repository where you can upload source documents (PDFs, URLs, notes) to ensure the AI remains factually grounded in your specific data.
• Block-Based Editor: A flexible, modular interface that allows you to drag and drop sections, quotes, and headers to restructure your document instantly.
• Multi-Model Switching: The ability to swap between "Speed Mode" (fast iteration) and "Power Mode" (deep reasoning/Claude) based on the task at hand.
• Document-Wide Reviews: An "AI Editor" feature that scans your entire document at once to suggest structural improvements or catch grammatical inconsistencies.

Type.ai Use Cases

• Professional Content Marketing: Writers use it to draft SEO-optimized blogs and social posts that maintain a consistent brand voice.
• Deep Research Projects: Analysts use the Knowledge Vault to summarize dozens of reports into a single, cohesive white paper.
• Email & Newsletter Drafting: Creators use the "Elaborate" and "Simplify" commands to rapidly iterate on different versions of their copy.
